For many years, Joey Jordison was known for his work behind the kit in Slipknot, but these days he's preparing for a big year with his current band Vimic. Jordison's exit from Slipknot came as a surprise and details of what really happened have mostly been kept under wraps by the band and the drummer. But one of the reasons for the parting of ways might have had to do with Jordison's battle with Acute Transverse Myelitis, that left him unable to drum for a period of time. Speaking to AXS (as heard in the player below), Jordison opened up a bit on his condition and the band's response to it.

When asked why Slipknot didn't simply explain Jordison's condition when the parting of ways took place, the drummer responded, "That's a really great question, and that's a hard question to answer as I know that everything is publicized right now so I gotta really watch my words. The thing is, I got visited in the hospital by one member of the band when they all knew I was in there ... and next thing you know, I got exited from the band. And I don't know why. I don't understand what the deal was."

He continues, "There's been a bunch of rumors and stuff like, you know, why it was, and it is absolutely untrue ... but it's okay. Life takes you down weird paths .. I came back right after I got through with this, and I came back, and I did the festivals, and I killed it."

Jordison concludes with a message for the Slipknot fans, letting them know, "I didn't quit Slipknot. I would never have quit Slipknot, ever. I just want the fans to know that. It's important for everyone to know that." You can hear more of Jordison's chat with AXS in the player provided below.
