We've got two semifinal battles for you to vote on and both feature incredibly intriguing matchups. In this first battle, two of the genre's most progressive bassists go head-to-head for a spot in the finals.

Dream Theater's John Myung pulled off one of this competitions most impressive victories in the quarterfinals with a win over Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler. Myung added this latest win to previous triumphs over Cynic's Sean Malone and bass legend Steve DiGiorgio.

Tool's Justin Chancellor has won yet another battle in our Greatest Metal Bassist competition thanks to both his immense talent and the near-religious devotion of Tool fans. Chancellor put away Pantera / Down / Kill Devil Hill bassist Rex Brown in our quarterfinals, having already defeated Gorguts' Colin Marston and Cannibal Corpse's Alex Webster.

John Myung or Justin Chancellor? Vote for your favorite bassist in the poll below! Voting for this round closes on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10AM ET. Fans can vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure that your favorite metal musician wins!
