Kid Plays ‘Jesus of Suburbia’ Onstage With Green Day – Best of YouTube

Subscribe to Loudwire on

Seeing a kid from the audience join Green Day onstage is a common occurrence at the band’s shows and one of the coolest ways a band can directly interact with their fans. It inspires young fans, like the one in this 2009 video, to pick up an instrument and allows the band’s influence to spread.

Before playing ‘Jesus of Suburbia,’ frontman Billie Joe Armstrong asks the crowd if anyone knows how to play the song. A kid says he knows how to and Armstrong asks him what key the song is to make sure the kid really does know how to play it. The kid gives the correct response and is brought on stage. He nails the song and even gets to sing some of the song while playing Armstrong’s guitar!
