Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach Inspired to Form Hardcore Punk Project
Killswitch Engage may be his main gig, but as we’ve seen in recent years, singer Jesse Leach‘s musical influences go way beyond just what the band typically plays. In a new Instagram post, the singer reveals that he’s indulging some of those outside influences by putting together a new hardcore punk project.
Posting photos of albums from Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Black Flag and Discharge, the singer reveals that the four discs mentioned have played a major role in inspiring his new project. The vocalist formed the group, which consists of three additional unnamed players, and recently enjoyed a jam session in New York.
According to Leach, the band will continue to jam together and he expects to have more details and possibly a sample track soon. He continues, “This is a side project and it is being done for the pure enjoyment of playing. It is also a necessary outlet for a singing/yelling style and lyrics I can’t fit into any other band or project I’ve ever done. My 15 year old self is quite proud of me! GO!!!!!!!” See the post below.
It's been a long time coming man! Woke up with a fire in my heart! These 4 albums serve as inspiration for a jam session today with 3 killer humans! Don't tell anyone but I've put together a punk hardcore band/project for fun and today is our first jam session here in NY! To say I'm excited is a vast understatement! Now I just need to hack my car out of a couple of feet of ice! Stay tuned, you know I gotta big mouth on here and I'll drop details or a sample track as soon as I have them. Killswitch Engage released their well-received Incarnate album last year, but Leach is currently taking advantage of some time in his schedule to pursue the project. The band will return to the concert stage later this month, kicking off a new leg of tour dates March 29 in Montclair, N.J. See all of Killswitch Engage’s upcoming shows here.
