Killswitch Engage Won't Do 'End of Heartache' Anniversary Tour

Killswitch Engage's most successful album, The End of Heartache, was released 15 years ago in 2004 amid a metalcore explosion. While there's a trend of bands taking their classic albums out on the road on celebratory tours, that won't be the case for Killswitch, says guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz.

"It's kind of just a flash in the band, and then we move on for the next thing," Dutkiewicz told Kerrang! in a recent interview looking back on The End of Heartache. Rather than celebrating the past, Killswitch Engage are remaining locked on the present day. "We're in the middle of trying to set up the new record," the guitarist continued.

"It's funny, our bassist, Mike [D'Antonio], was, like, 'Hey, should we be thinking about doing a 15th anniversary tour for this record?' and I was, like, 'No! We should be thinking about this new record!' We shouldn't live in the past, y'know? I feel like there's been too much of that recently," added Dutkiewicz. "Maybe more people should focus on writing more material, and not just trying to rehash stuff, y'know? There's just too much of that!"

He went on to reveal that it was collectively decided not to revisit the classic album. "I'm happy that everyone agreed with me that it wasn't a good idea, especially because we literally just finished our new record. So we have things to worry about," said the guitarist.

The idea of performing The End of Heartache in full could have also presented a contrast to the band's current lineup. The album marked the debut of Jesse Leach's then replacement, Howard Jones, who left the group in 2011 and was, in turn, replaced by Leach the following year.

Killswitch Engage will release the follow-up to 2016's Incarnate this fall and will embark on a co-headlining tour with Clutch beginning in July. See the list of stops below.
