Leave it up to Korn to mix it up as they are set to release their new album ’The Path of Totality,’ which uniquely combines metal with dubstep. The album is now set to drop on Dec. 6 (an early Christmas present for Korn fans).

The first single off the album, ‘Get Up,’ was released earlier this year and features a collaboration with Skrillex. Guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer reveals in a press release that the track “started as a bit of an experiment."

He continues, "We had such an amazing response from our fans and had such a great time collaborating that a full album of tracks came together in a couple of months. We couldn't wait to get to the studio every day to finish the next song."

‘The Path of Totality’ will be released as a standard 11-song album and also as a special edition that includes bonus tracks and a DVD of ‘The Encounter,’ which is Korn’s very unique performance in the middle of a massive crop circle in a wheat field in their hometown of Bakersfield, Calif.

As far as the title of the album is concerned, frontman Jonathan Davis explains, "The title 'The Path of Totality' refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time. That's how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I'm not sure it could ever happen again."

Some more good news for Korn fanatics is that the band has also unveiled a string of 2011 U.S. tour dates for the first leg of their ‘Path of Totality’ tour.

The trek will also feature dubstep DJs Datsik and Downlink, as well as up and coming “Dutch Dub-rockers” Dope D.O.D. Below is a list of tour dates.
