Lacuna Coil have just announced that they have begun work on their seventh studio album. The upcoming record will act as the follow-up to Lacuna Coil's 2012 full-length, 'Dark Adrenaline.'

Lacuna Coil are staying in their home country of Italy to record the new album, tapping acclaimed producer Jay Baumgardner, who has worked with bands such as P.O.D., Sevendust, Evanescence, Papa Roach, Otherwise + more.

"I am so excited to work on new stuff... I am sure a lot of people will be mesmerized by the cinematic vibe of the new album that's underway," says frontwoman Cristina Scabbia. "I'm very happy to have the chance to work with Jay. Not only is he a pro in what he does, but I am just loving the fact we are going to experiment with new sounds and are getting a different point of view about our art. We're swamped with the music already... LACUNA COIL is back baby!!!"

Frontman Andrea Ferro also offered a quote about Lacuna Coil's upcoming seventh full-length record. "We met Jay a few years ago in L.A. and had a really positive feeling about him, as he has produced and mixed some of my favourite records and some very relevant rock/metal albums," says Ferro. "We have decided to work with him, because he has the ability to work together with the band towards a common vision without driving the band away from their sound.  In the studio there is the right energy that allows common people to achieve uncommon results!"

Lacuna Coil plan to complete the recording process before hitting the road with Paradise Lost for the European 'Tragic Illusion' tour. The string of dates begins on Oct. 30 in Wolverhampton, U.K. and concludes Nov. 13 in Solothurn, Switzerland. For a full list of tour dates, click here.
