Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe Reveals Final Cover for ‘Dark Days’ Memoir
As expected, the book will detail his surprise jailing in the Czech Republic when he first learned that a fan had died in a stage diving incident and he was being charged with manslaughter. After a lengthy stay behind bars, he was eventually allowed to return to the U.S. But rather than protect himself from possible imprisonment, he decided to return to the Czech Republic for the court case and he was eventually acquitted of the manslaughter charge.
Blythe used his Instagram account to not only post a photo of the book artwork, but to also go into detail about the process of putting it together. According to the post, Blythe called upon noted photographer and director Paul R. Brown to design the cover based on a couple of photos the musician had taken. The rocker also reveals a change to the initial subtitle of his book. You can see the book cover and read his entire post below.
Blythe previously stated about his book, "Most substance-abuse books end with the author getting sober. My book starts there. This book will tell that story, the whole story, for the first time ever. I’m the only one who lived it, so I’m the only one capable of telling it. However, the tale of my arrest, incarceration, release, and trial are merely the vehicle I will be using to convey what I feel is an important message in today’s fast-paced, high-tech, self-centered world. I have something to say, and life has presented me with a tragic way to illustrate my point without being preachy or pedantic. I will not moralize or shout from some ludicrous ethical pedestal (I didn’t win the Olympics or cure cancer, I went to prison, for Pete’s sake) — I just want to relate how I got through a very scary time and came out with my head held high. I think there is a lesson of value in the telling of my story, if only for myself. Therefore I will write it, and I hope some of you will read it."
As stated, Randy Blythe's "Dark Days: A Memoir" will arrive on July 14 via DaCapo in the U.S. You can currently pre-order it at Amazon.
