Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Black Sabbath + More Featured in ‘History of Rock’ Mash-Up

The mashup can be an interesting experiment, especially when you get things you wouldn’t necessarily think go together that do. But if you look at the history of rock music as a whole, there are ties that bind regardless of what the year is. If you need further proof, we suggest checking out the new “History of Rock” mash-up from Ithaca Audio.

The U.K.-based sound design studio pulled some of the biggest tracks from over five decades worth of music and managed to mix them all together … and with a pretty cool video to boot. The clip, which can be seen above, makes it look as though the history of rock plays out through a Facebook feed, with each individual posts eliciting likes from the artists they influenced and using artist quotes in the “comments” section.

If you look closely, you’ll find out which guitar great called Led Zeppelin a “game-changer” after hearing his sister play their music. You’ll find out which musician Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett credited for him picking up the guitar. Who said, “Heavy metal would not exist without Led Zeppelin, and if it did, it would suck?” Who did Nirvana‘s Kurt Cobain claim to have listened to for the first seven years of his life? Get those answers and more by watching how it all plays out in the video above.

The “History of Rock” mash-up includes the aforementioned Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Nirvana, along with such legendary acts as Jimi Hendrix, Queen, The Who, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, The Clash, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, the White Stripes and many more. And if you like what you hear, you can pick up the “History of Rock” mash-up at this location.
