Linkin Park have been known to rock for a good cause, and on Tuesday (Nov. 8), the band was awarded for their efforts with a Global Leadership Award at the UN Foundation and UN Association of the USA Global Leadership Awards Dinner.

Linkin Park started their grassroots ‘Music for Relief’ non-profit organization in 2005 and encouraged the music community as well as their fans to take part in awareness and fundraising to help raise aid for those in need all over the world with an emphasis on those impacted by natural disasters.

The UN honored the band for their recent efforts, which included raising over $500,000 for ‘Save the Children’ and kids impacted by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

In accepting their award, Linkin Park also revealed their latest cause, their pledge to support the ‘Sustainable Energy for All’ campaign through their initiative ‘Power the World.” The band is planning to harness social media to help spread awareness with their fans.
