The word "paparazzi" comes from an Italian term referring to the irritating buzzing noise made by insects, most notably, the mosquito. And what's one way to get rid of mosquitos? A massive cloud of smoke … and this is exactly the tactic used by rock icon Marilyn Manson against the paparazzi as the musician left a premiere party for the new film 'Spring Breakers.'

Apparently, Marilyn Manson's new thing is to carry smoke bombs with him. Referred to by media outlets as his new calling card, the shock rock singer deployed his new favorite toy while exiting the Emerson Theater in Los Angeles.

Video capturing the stunt shows Manson calmly leaving the cinema, but stopping for a few seconds after reaching the bottom of a flight of stairs. Suddenly, a cloud of smoke began to appear at the feet of Manson, causing some photographers to yell, "What's on fire?" As the smoke began to thicken, Manson quickly made his way through the paparazzi, disallowing them to take a clear picture as Manson entered his ride home. The smoke actually made it all the way to the car, as seen in the video below.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to inspect the bomb Manson set off, coming to the conclusion that it was nothing dangerous, but by then, Manson was already long gone.

According to the New York Post, Manson has pulled the smoke bomb gag before. "He did the same thing recently at Greystone Manor," an unnamed source reportedly told the publication.
