Georgia metal quartet Mastodon have announced that they will be headlining one of the most intriguing tours of the year. The band will be taking the Dillinger Escape Plan and Red Fang on the road with them for a six-week North American tour beginning Oct. 25 in Austin, Texas.

Mastodon will also be taking their newest material on tour, in the form of their highly anticipated album ‘The Hunter,’ which is set for a Sept. 27 release. Mastodon fans are constantly salivating for new music from the band — luckily for them, Mastodon have teased the release of ‘The Hunter’ by releasing three new tracks within two months, including the single ‘Curl of the Burl,’ and most recently ‘Spectrelight.’

The band is also booked to tear up the stage of the Ed Sullivan Theatre, where it will play ‘Curl of the Burl’ on the Oct. 5 episode of ‘Late Show With David Letterman.’

The revolutionary Dillinger Escape Plan have been in the process of writing their follow-up to ‘Option Paralysis,’ which landed on many Top 10 lists for 2010. Earlier this year, vocalist Greg Puciato announced the band is currently writing new music for a possible EP or full-length. The currently untitled work is expected to be released sometime next year.

The addition of Red Fang to the lineup is a beautifully fitting one. The band is sure to captivate fans of Mastodon especially with their finely crafted brand of Melvins-influenced metal. Red Fang released their Relapse Records debut, ‘Murder the Mountains,’ in April of this year.
