New York City fans were treated to a night of Black Metal at Webster Hall with obliterating performances from Mayhem, Watain and Revenge.

The Norwegian metalers of Mayhem have nearly three decades of music and five studio albums under their belt. Vocalist Attila Csihar hit the stage with his infamous blood stained face with skulls and bones in hand as the set began with ‘Deathcrush’ and ‘Pagan Fears.’ A crushing performance followed with 'Symbols of Bloodswords,' 'My Death' and 'A Time to Die' delivering a brutal mid-show collective.

It truly was ‘Pure Fucking Armageddon’ as the band ended their set with the notable track, which was preceded by ‘Carnage’ and ‘Freezing Moon.’ The sweat-filled performance was one the New York crowd won’t forget as it set the bar high for metal shows early on in 2015.

Swedish black metalers Watain took the stage beforehand, drenched in grime and animal blood. Frontman Erik Danielsson spilled some blood in the crowd during ‘Outlaw.’ Their performance was filled aggression filled and utterly ruthless. Watain are one of the most intense and relentless bands you can experience live.

Canadian band Revenge kicked off the night as they opened up the show by pummeling eardrums. The three-piece band was invigorating to see live and Revenge is one act we hope to be seeing in the States more often.
