A Perfect Circle suspended their infamous no cellphone policy at a show in West Valley, Utah, over the weekend, but just for one song. During the live debut of “Delicious” from their Eat the Elephant record, Maynard James Keenan invited the arena full of fans to whip out their phones and film as a “present from Grandpa.”

APC’s distaste for people filming their shows has led to countless ejections over the years. “First of all, it’s just rude. Putting up a phone in front of someone’s face so they get to watch the show through it? Getting a memento of the show — sure, I’ve done it myself. But then you ask, ‘What am I gonna do with this?’” guitarist Billy Howerdel asked the Montreal Gazette.

According to the general manager of the Santander Arena in Reading, Pa., 60 fans were given the boot from an A Perfect Circle gig last year, so calling the policy “strict” isn’t just hyperbole.

However, every rule has its exception, and APC fans have been flooding social media with Maynard-approved videos from the Utah gig. It’s quite beautiful to see the whole arena crowd light up like fireflies, so take a look at the scenes below.
