Megadeth are hard at work on their new album, as frontman Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson are recording tracks with the band's new axeman Kiko Loureiro on guitars and Lamb of God‘s Chris Adler handling drums.

As they continue to work on the record, a couple of band members have taken to social media to update the progress of the album. Among the Tweets is one in which Mustaine calls Loureiro "the best guitarist we've ever had."

Considering that Megadeth have featured such acclaimed guitarists as Marty Friedman and Chris Broderick in the past, that's a pretty bold statement from Mustaine. In addition, the frontman also had some kind words for the band's longtime bassist David Ellefson:

Meanwhile, Ellefson himself offered an update by posting the following studio photo on his Facebook page:

As far as concert dates, Ellefson recently said in an interview that the Megadeth have pushed back plans to tour this summer in order to make sure they’re able to finish the album in the way that they wish.
