July 16th, 2012 Zoo Ampitheater, Oklahoma City: This was the best day of my life, so far. I enter the venue as the band Hemlock performs. I glance at the main stage and become immediately overflowed with an excited-dorky feeling as I see the crews setting up the stage with the unforgettable slayer eagle-pentagram logo. Like most metal concert attendents I flock to the merch stands in anticipation for a shirt to prove i was there. I bought two shirts, a slipknot shirt and a slayer shirt. Before i knew it Whitechapel had begun their set, as I noticed a tent that had bands signing for free. I noticed the devil wears prada were in there so I waited in line to meet them. I greeted all of them and knew all their names, I ended up with a poster signed by them. Then, Anthrax were doing the same thing. I stepped in line and eagerly waited to meet the thrash titans themselves. That was when Asking Alexandria took the stage, my most hated band. I proudly booed them as others joined along with me. It seemed the only people that were in the pit for them were annoying emo/scene teenagers. As my ears were tortured by annoying, whiny, emo music, I was next in line to meet Anthrax. Out of shock and disbelief a smile came upon my face as I met each member. Finally at the end of the table I approach Scott Ian and fist bump him. I told him my favorite anthrax album is Fistful of Metal, he then smiles looks up at me and tells me to keep waving the flag of Metal. As if this wasn’t enough to make my day, I remembered Clown of Slipknot had a booth to meet fans. After a while of looking around for it I finally find him. I wait in line, then a security guy tells me to leave because he was done meeting fans. I slowly walk away and sit on a bench and watch finish up. Then, the same security guy asked me if I had a slipkot shirt, and that clown wanted to meet me. I go to his booth and shake his hand, he signed my shirt and i got a picture with him. Afterwards, I go to the tent for bands signing and end up being the last person to meet Whitechapel. After that As I Lay Dying finishes their set on the main stage. I then get as close to the stage as i can and finish off the day watching and moshing to my favorite bands Anthrax, Motorhead, Slayer(even though Jeff wasn’t there Gary Holt was a great alternative), and Slipknot…. Metal shall live on!
