Loudwire will be presenting a special Made in Brooklyn performance from Metal Allegiance before they fly out to England to make their debut at the Bloodstock festival. The band will be playing at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 11, tearing through Deep Purple's immortal live album Made in Japan. Metal Allegiance will be utilizing the talents of two drummers at this show, with one stickman brought in just for the Deep Purple portion of the set and another to play the band's planned Bloodstock set.

Two of the band's members, guitarist Alex Skolnick (Testament) and bassist Mark Menghi, dropped by our studio to discuss the show and gave us the scoop on who will be performing with the group since typical drummer Mike Portnoy is busy playing with Twisted Sister as part of their farewell run.

Menghi first reveals that former Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson will be sitting in with the band for the non-Deep Purple portion of the set, which has traditionally included covers of metal classics from bands like Pantera, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and more, as well as some original cuts off their self-titled debut.

As for who'll be behind the kit for the Made in Japan performance, Skolnick first outlines the drummer's résumé, explaining that he has played with avant-garde artist John Zorn and is a familiar face not only to metal, but to jazz circles, as well. The stickman is Kenny Grohowski, who also plays in death metal outfits Imperial Triumphant and Pyrrhon.

Watch the video above to learn more about the drummers playing with Metal Allegiance on Aug. 11 at their Made in Brooklyn show at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, N.Y., presented by Loudwire. Tickets for the show are available here, with special VIP packages available here. Opening acts include Chains Over Razors, Martyrd and Magus Beast.
