It may be hard to believe but there are still a few "firsts" that Metallica are scratching off their checklist. One of those happened over the weekend as the band dropped by the Maida Vale Studios in London to record their first ever BBC Session.

During the band's appearance, they rocked out five songs for the listening audience and also spoke with host Daniel P. Carter of BBC Radio 1's Rock Show.

The set list included performances of "Atlas, Rise!" (seen below), "Moth Into Flame," "Harvester of Sorrow," "Hardwired" (seen above) and "Enter Sandman." The guys also took part in a brief interview and for a limited time you can hear the full chat and performance at this location.

Metallica have been in the midst of a massive media blitz to promote their newly released Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct album. That included a stop at the House of Vans in London for a webcast performance. Meanwhile, the group just announced plans to play a show in Toronto on Nov. 29.
