Let’s wrap up this week with a little positivity in the metal scene. In a new interview, Metallica frontman James Hetfield had some kind words for former bandmate and Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine.

The bad blood between Dave Mustaine and Metallica lasted for decades, stemming from when Mustaine was kicked out of the band. Both Metallica and Megadeth attained legendary status way back in the ‘80s, but success didn’t mend their caustic divide. Peace was only truly brokered in the past few years and it seems like both sides now have no issue complimenting each other.

In a video interview with Bild Musik, Hetfield was shown a bunch of photos and asked to react to them. When a photo of Mustaine popped up, he responded, “An old friend of ours for sure and he has done very well for himself in Megadeth. And after him getting kicked out of Metallica he went on to have an amazing career. Dave is an amazing guitar player, great songwriter and he has done some amazing stuff in his band.”

Mustaine recently proposed via Twitter that Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax play some more ‘Big 4’ shows. While speaking with our own Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez, Mustaine added, “I think it’s great because all four of us have all put out a record in the same 12 month period and again, I think it would be smart for the four of us to go out and do something. The fans want to see the Big 4, they want to see the 4 of us and that’s it.”

Sounds good to us! Hey Big 4 guys, let’s make it happen!
