In an interview with Rolling Stone, Reed continued to express his excitement for the partnership. "[It’s] a marriage made in heaven," he said. “I knew it from the first day we played together: 'Oh, man, this is perfection, right in front of me.'”

‘Lulu’ is co-produced by Reed and Metallica with help from Hal Willner, who serves as the music supervisor for ‘Saturday Night Live’ and producer of various music and spoken work albums, including some for Reed, Lucinda Williams and Laurie Anderson. Greg Fidelman, who has worked on albums for Metallica, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and U2, is also handling production and mixing duties.

Metallica and Reed recently released the tracklisting for ‘Lulu,’ and the 10-track album features metal-friendly song titles such as “Pumping Blood,” “Cheat on Me” and “Dragon.”
