The Hard Rock Football League season moves on, with some of rock and metal's biggest acts representing their respective cities in a playoff-like competition. It was a pair of hard fought victories, but Metallica's San Francisco Lightning and Slayer's Los Angeles Blood have advanced to the next round.

Metallica's San Francisco Lightning had their hands full with Judas Priest's Birmingham Painkillers, but they managed to jump in the fire and come out with a victory. It's sad but true for Priest fans, but Metallica have managed to turn the page to prepare for their next battle against the almighty Slayer and their L.A. Blood team.

Slayer's L.A. Blood, meanwhile, showed no mercy in dispatching Anthrax's New York Mosh. Their seasons in the abyss likely aided them along the way and the postmortem on the game showed Slayer with a clear and decisive victory. Now, we'll see what hell awaits for Metallica's San Francisco Lightning.

These two members of the Big 4 are squaring off for the right to advance to the championship of the Loudwire region, with the victor eventually facing the champ of the Ultimate Classic Rock football league for the overall title.
