Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil has pleaded “not guilty” on a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an April incident outside a Las Vegas hotel. He's currently being sued for $75,000 by a woman claiming Neil assaulted her.

The charge against Vince Neil received much mainstream attention due to the involvement of actor Nicolas Cage, who was caught on film subduing Neil. Eventually, details of the alleged incident were made public through a lawsuit filed by the woman claiming Neil assaulted her. Neil reportedly grabbed the woman by her hair and pulled her to the ground, seemingly unprovoked, after she approached Nicolas Cage to compliment him on his acting.

On Wednesday. July 27, Neil’s attorneys appeared in court without the singer to enter a “not guilty” plea. The lawyers also claimed they’re investigating what led to the allegations against Neil. "I ask people not to prejudge situations until all the facts come in," attorney David Chesnoff said. [via Las Vegas Sun]

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Cynthia Cruz has set a Sept. 19 trial date for Vince Neil. The singer’s history of “self-centered, irresponsible, drunken and violent behavior” was brought up in the lawsuit against him. These include a 1984 vehicular manslaughter incident, the assault of a sex worker at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch in 2004, a 2010 drunk driving arrest and Neil pleading guilty to a disorderly conduct charge in 2011.
