Nikki Sixx just broke some big news via Twitter. In the midst of Motley Crue's residency in Las Vegas, the band is writing tunes for its new album. And, according to the bassist's description, the first song sounds like it's classic Crue.

Sixx tweeted the following update today (Feb. 12): "Back into writing session for new CRUE here in Vegas…This first song is really ratty, sexy and loud..."

Meanwhile, drummer Tommy Lee chimed in on his own Twitter page today, saying, "With @james_a_michael @nikkisixx in da studio kids!! NEW CRUE comin!!! FOK!!!!" Lee is referring to Sixx: A.M. singer James Michael, who is likely co-writing songs with the band for the new album.

The upcoming Motley Crue disc will be the follow-up to 2008's 'Saints of Los Angeles,' which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard chart and yielded the hit title track. The new disc will be the band's 10th studio album.

The band's current Vegas run continues through Feb. 19 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. Tickets for the remaining shows are available here.
