The track ‘Rooster’ is off of Alice in Chains' 1992 album ‘Dirt.’ Late frontman Layne Staley's signature vocals go from dreamy and melodic to soaring and gritty. The song was written by guitarist Jerry Cantrell for his father Jerry Cantrell Sr., who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and went by the nickname ‘Rooster.’

The clip, which was directed by Mark Pellington, features actual Vietnam War documentary and news footage as well as some re-enacted combat scenes. The song and the video continue to stand the test of time as both continue to make an impact visually and on our eardrums almost two decades after being released.
