February 2012 is shaping up to be a great month for new music releases in the realm hard rock and metal - most notably extreme metal. The shortest month of the year may also be the heaviest, with releases planned for Caliban, Goatwhore and Napalm Death, just to name a few.

Napalm Death's latest full-length 'Utilitarian' is scheduled for release at the end of the month. 'Utilitarian' will be the first album released by the legendary extreme metal pioneers since 'Time Waits for No Slave' in 2009.

Caliban's 'I Am Nemisis' will see a Feb. 28 release in the U.S., although worldwide release dates are very scattered. Caliban have been comparing the sound of 'I Am Nemesis' to Meshuggah - proving their claims to be true with the release of singles 'Memorial' and 'Dein R3.ich.'

Along with the two extreme acts, February will host more new music releases including the highly-anticipated Goatwhore album, 'Blood for the Master,' Autopsy's 'All Tomorrow's Funerals' and and the half-original, half-covers, 22-track album 'Short Songs' from post-hardcore darlings Silverstein.

But it isn't all extreme metal in February. Legendary rockers Van Halen are releasing their first album with David Lee Roth as singer since '1984.'

Check out the upcoming release dates from these bands and many, many more.
