NFL Week 1 Picks by Otherwise’s Adrian Patrick
Adrian Patrick of the band Otherwise has signed on to make his weekly NFL picks for Loudwire. Every Thursday, Adrian checks the odds and lets you know which teams he thinks will beat the spread. Check out his first week's picks below:
"Are you ready for football?" Words cannot express how excited I am that FOOTBALL is finally back -- America’s true past time. A sport that is meant to ROCK! Every week I’m going to give you a SIN CITY insider knowledge on each weeks NFL games, who to pick and why. But remember, Vegas takes your money so be careful if you take my advice on these picks. Now onto the games ...
Seattle Seahawks (-6) over Green Bay
Defense wins games and Green Bay has a sorry one. Look for the defending champions to expose an aging defense and continue their home dominance. Take the Seahawks to cover.
New Orleans Saints (-3) over Atlanta
The Falcons. Man were they bad last year. But before you say take the Saints remember that they were just as bad on the road. But that’s not the case here. Being that this is a dome game with a strong Saints defense, Atlanta may be in trouble here. Look for the Saints to cover.
St. Louis Rams (-3.5) over Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are awful. The Rams aren’t much better but at least they are at home for this one. If the Rams can hold Adrian Peterson to under 100 yards rushing they will win this game. Take the Rams.
Cleveland Browns (+7) over Pittsburgh Steelers
Another uninteresting game with two teams that made little noise last year. No Johnny Football means no Adrian Patrick watching this game. Low scoring game means take the underdog. Pick the Browns.
Philadelphia Eagles (-11) over Jacksonville Jaguars
Ten points is a lot to cover in the NFL and Vegas wants you to take Jacksonville here. We call these sucker picks. Eagles will make some noise this year. Take the Eagles to cover in this BLOW OUT!
New York Jets (-5.5) over Oakland Raiders.
Rex Ryan defense vs rookie QB in first start? Really? Take the Jets.
Cincinnati Bengals (+1.5) over Baltimore Ravens
Low scoring game and it will come down to ball control and who’s QB manages the game better. Andy Dalton is a better QB than Joe Flacco regardless of the Super Bowl rings and I like his support better. Take the Bengals in this upset.
Buffalo Bills (+7) over Chicago Bears
Jay Cutler loves to throw INTS. And Buffalo has a good defense that gets after the QB and force turnovers. Buffalo loses but it will be close. Take the Bills.
Washington (+3) over Houston Texans
What an awful game. Texans are bad. Washington has an overrated QB. This is a guess. Take Washington in the upset since every time I bet on Houston I lose.
Tennesse Titans (+3.5) over Kansas City Chiefs
If Dwayne Bowe was playing I’d be all over the Chiefs in a blow out. But he's not. The Chiefs lost their No. 1 WR and to me he's their only WR. Take Tennessee but Kansas City still wins the game.
New England Patriots (-5) over Miami Dolphins
The Patriots are healthy and back. Miami is going to surprise a few people this year but not Tom Brady and company. New England is going to make a statement in Week 1. Patriots. Easy.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1) over Carolina Panthers
This all depends on Cam Newton. If he plays, the Panthers win. If he doesn’t, Tampa wins. I like Tampa this year as well. Look for them to be one of the league's most improved.
Dallas Cowboys (+4.5) over San Francisco 49ers
49ers will not be ready for an underrated Cowboys defense which is one of the best in the league. 49ers get upset in Week 1. Take the Cowboys.
Denver Broncos (-7.5) over Indianapolis Colts
My manager is a diehard Bronco fan and told me I am not allowed to pick against them. Regardless they are my Super Bowl pick. So pick the Broncos every week.
New York Giants (+5.5) over Detroit Lions
Lions win this game but it will be close. I really like Detroit this year. Their defense is nasty, intimidating and even better than last year. Pick the Giants for the spread.
San Diego Chargers (+3) over Arizona Cardinals
I like the Chargers this year. I think they make the playoffs. They will open up an already banged up Cardinals defense. Take the Chargers to win in this upset and to open a few eyes.
