Nine Inch Nails vs. Carly Rae Jepsen – Mash-Ups You Need to Hear

Take one modern day pop star (Carly Rae Jepsen) with an incredibly infectious flavor of the year single. Now add in a classic slab of industrial angst-ridden darkness from Mr. Nine Inch Nails himself, Trent Reznor. You might think the results would be combustible, but somehow there’s just something about PomDeter’s mash-up known as ‘Call Me a Hole’ that draws us in like a moth to the flame.

The remixer takes out some of the sting of Reznor’s ‘Head Like a Hole’ vocals by laying it against ‘Call Me Maybe’s’ infectiously catchy backing strings. When Reznor declares with furious passion, “No you can’t take it / No you can’t take it / No you can’t take that away from me,” you have to wonder if this light and bouncy mash-up has done exactly that.
