It was a tight battle, but rock vets Pearl Jam ousted reigning champ Deftones in the most recent Cage Match. Emerging with just over 52 percent of the vote, 'Sirens' bested Deftones 'Romantic Dreams' and is now ready to sound off for a new battle.

Pearl Jam's opponent is quite familiar, as they'll square off against their fellow Seattle scene vets Soundgarden, who happen to share the same drummer, Matt Cameron. Soundgarden's latest single is 'Halfway There,' which is featured on the band's 'King Animal' album. Though Soundgarden are taking the fall off from touring (since Cameron will be on the road with Pearl Jam), frontman Chris Cornell has stated that he sees no reason why the band won't continue recording new music beyond their current album.

Will Pearl Jam emerge from this "made-in-Seattle" Cage Match or will Soundgarden go all the way with 'Halfway There'? That's for you to decide. Listen to both songs and vote for your favorite in the poll below:

(This Cage Match will run until Friday, Oct. 4, at 2PM ET. Fans can vote once per hour! So come back and vote often to make sure your favorite song wins!)

Pearl Jam, 'Sirens'

Soundgarden, 'Halfway There'

Rules of Cage Match:

Fans can vote once per hour for their favorite song. If a song remains the reigning champ for five straight cage matches, it is retired to the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame. With so many great songs out there, we have to give other bands a chance!
