Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander continues to have health issues, suffering his second heart attack since 2014. Alexander survived the heart attack and revealed the news to fans via his Instagram account.

Back in 2014, Alexander, who has also played in Puscifer, had his first heart attack and was hospitalized. He missed part of Primus’ touring, with Tool‘s Danny Carey filling in while he recovered. Eventually Alexander returned to the group’s lineup to help in the support of their 2014 album, Primus & the Chocolate Factory With the Fungi Ensemble.

The drummer says, “I had a second heart attack the other day. I did not think this could happen after having a triple bypass almost exactly 2 years ago. I was overwhelmed with sadness, not because of the fact that I could die but that I would have to say goodbye to my family. It can happen at any moment, and remember IT WILL HAPPEN ONE DAY so tell the people in your life you love them. Enjoy the days you have with them, they are limited. We are all here for a short time.” Check out his posting below.

At present, Primus are off the road. The band does have a couple of festival performances scheduled for the fall, with October shows taking place at the Desert Daze and Aftershock festivals.
