Actor Michael Fassbender has made a name for himself in recent years as the clean-cut star of such films as X-Men: First Class, Inglourious Basterds, Shame, and most recently Prometheus.

But the actor admits he didn't always have his hair so closely cropped, and in fact was a bit of a metalhead. Fassbender told the Sun, "When me and my friend Mike had a band I used to have hair down to my chest, ten-hole Dr. Martens and combat shorts cut at the knees."

When asked about his musical tastes, he replied, "My favorites were Metallica, Sepultura, and anything off Slayer's 'Reign in Blood.' I love the bit in 'Seasons in the Abyss' by Slayer and I worked hard to learn Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' when I was younger."

Fassbender says his band didn't last too long as he and his pal were shut down after playing Metallica too loud during the lunchtime service at a country pub. It was their only gig as a band. The actor laughed, "No one wants to hear Metallica at lunch."
