While six years between releases may be a long time to wait for a new Queens of the Stone Age disc, it certainly didn’t deter music fans from lining up to buy the album as soon as it came out. QOTSA’s sixth studio album ‘…Like Clockwork’ debuted in the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart this week, resulting in a huge milestone for the band as their first No. 1 disc.

It was not only a first for the band, it also marks first No. 1 album for Matador Records, Queens of the Stone Age’s new label home. ‘…Like Clockwork’ sold 91,000 units its first week including a staggering 12,000 vinyl LPs. As momentum only continues to build for Josh Homme and company, this is likely to be the first of many accolades that the new disc will receive.

Overall, rock and metal had a strong presence on this week’s Billboard chart, with three new releases in the Top 10. Sleeping With Sirens had their highest charting album to date with their new disc ‘Feel’ moving into the No. 3 spot. Megadeth also earned a seat in the top 10 charting at No. 6 with ‘Super Collider,’ chalking up their highest-charting release since 1994.

Queens of the Stone Age will be bringing '...Like Clockwork' out on the road throughout the summer and fall; check out all of their upcoming tour dates here.
