As fans of the Swedish hardcore punk band Refused anxiously await the release of the band's first album in 17 years on June 30, the band has unveiled the video for "Dawkins Christ" from Freedom.

The band gives a little insight on the song: "The title refers to the famous biologist whose atheist theology has inspired a semi-cult who in turn sees him as a messianic figure, an irony that partly inspired the lyrics. The music draws from the film scores of Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone as well as pre-Reign in Blood Slayer."

The band doesn't appear in the video, which includes a wide variety of footage ranging from old religious paintings to natural disasters to someone jumping off a cliff. In addition to "Dawkins Christ," Refused have released some other tracks from Freedom. You can check out both "Elektra" and “Françafrique.”

Refused recently played a couple of shows in Brooklyn, and Loudwire was there. The band will playing several concerts with Faith No More from July 30 through Aug. 7. Before that they'll be playing Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Canada, on June 20 and then heading off to Europe. For their complete tour calendar, go here.
