Remember When GWAR Had a Comic Book?

Slave Pit
Yes, it’s true! Those purveyors of horror punk, GWAR, took the next obvious step over a five-year period in the late ’90s by serving up the animated ‘Slave Pit Funnies: Featuring GWAR.’

The group actually took an active role in the creation of the comic, as members of the band were responsible for not only writing the material, but drawing their characters as well.

So what did a GWAR comic look like? It had your expected body slicing, mass destruction and general insanity that comes with a GWAR show and spanned seven issues all totaled.

GWAR are just one of several acts to have had their own comics, with KISS, Aerosmith, and Lita Ford all getting the animated treatment as well.
