Athens Wood, Abraxas, Thark and Hiroshima were just a few of the acts that preceded Judas Priest, which formed in 1969. The band quickly established themselves as one of metal's pioneers in the '70s, but by 1991, Halford would exit the band amidst growing tensions. The next decade-plus found Halford launching intriguing projects like Fight, 2wo and Halford before eventually reconciling with Judas Priest in 2003.
