The Royal Thunder quartet have been conjuring some of the most emotionally deep folk / psych rock in recent years. They've admitted their forthcoming record, WICK, was difficult to make and now that the tracking is over, there's a feeling of inner freedom. Dive into the moving new track "April Showers" below to get a sense of what's ahead as well as a batch of freshly announced tour dates.

Always teetering on the edge of mountain moving moments that hinge on dramatic musical buildups, "April Showers" is another shimmering example of Royal Thunder's awe-inspiring style. The song starts off with a plodding nature, lightly picked guitar moments and equally light percussion as Mlny Parsonz's gritty, sultry voice toys with beauty and agony before exploding along with the rest of the band, only to dip back into those low moments and the cycle continues.

"A lot has happened in life between Crooked Doors and WICK," began singer / bassist Parsonz. "This song was a life raft and an outlet while we were on the road. It was a song that we lived in and looked forward to playing, live. Personally, it gave me the freedom to release my emotions and process my thoughts while I was on the road. We hope you enjoy this song. And we appreciate your support, sincerely. We present to you....'April Showers.'"

Place your pre-orders for WICK at the Royal Thunder webstore or digitally here. The album will be released on April 7 through Spinefarm.

Royal Thunder will play four headlining shows between March 3 and 10 leading up to the album's release. On April 9, they'll head back out on the road providing direct support for Brant Bjork with Black Wizard in tow as the opening act. The jaunt, which starts off in Sacramento, Calif. will circle North America and end on May 1 back in California with a Los Angeles show. See the full list of stops below.
