Celebrating a 50th anniversary of anything is typically a big milestone, but when you're the Scorpions and you've been rocking fans for half a century, you definitely want to do something cool to mark the occasion. However, the best laid plans have gone awry, forcing the band to put off a planned celebration in Berlin next month.

In a new post, the band cites "technical problems" for thwarting their planned club show that was scheduled to take place in front of 250 fans. The group had opened a contest for their fans to attend the special date, with only the limited few being able to attend the Nov. 3 club show in Berlin. But while the show will not go off as planned, the band still intends to honor the contest winners with something pretty cool. They explain the cancellation of the date and the plans to make it up to the fans set to attend in the post below:

The Scorpions wanted to celebrate their 50th Anniversary together with 250 of their fans on November 3rd in Berlin. Within hours, thousands of fans participated in a competition to win these rare tickets. However technical problems now forced the band to cancel the club show.
After their massive sold out arena tour in North America the band will have to play in Rome on November 9th and thereafter in Milano and Paris. Within the short timeframe between Las Vegas, Seattle and Rome it unfortunately proved impossible to scale down the arena show and technical equipment needed to perform in a small club in such a way that the musical quality would be guaranteed which is very important to the Scorpions. For this reason the show in Berlin had to be withdrawn and the band would like to apologize for this.
But here is the good news for the competition winners. They will be invited to the Scorpions concert in Berlin on March 23rd 2016 in the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin as VIP guests where they be able to have an early entry and can experience the final show preparation as well as the band’s sound check. This way they can have a very special experience of this concert. The winners will be notified by e-mail within the next few days.

Scorpions released their Return to Forever album just last month. The band will kick off a European tour leg that will take them into early December next month, then will resume touring in February of next year. See all of their dates here.
