Scott Weiland's 'Purple at the Core' solo trek will now switch coasts, as the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman will head west for a string of late May and early June shows.

Weiland and his band, The Wildabouts, just completed a swing through the East Coast and Midwest, though not without a few bumps in the road. Drummer Danny Thompson just confirmed that he's exited the band after seven years of playing with Weiland.

In a Facebook posting, Thompson stated, "I have just officially QUIT The Scott Weiland Solo Band. Loved playing with the guys for 7 years but It's a matter of self worth. Not going to elaborate." Despite promising not to elaborate, Thompson responded to a fan's question as to why the drummer had quit, with Thompson writing, "Carley really? You know better then most. The Darkness..." The response may possibly be in reference to British rock band the Darkness going on hiatus in 2006 due to frontman Justin Hawkins' substance abuse. At present, Thompson's replacement has not been named. Weiland recently posted a photo of himself sitting in on drums during a recent show in Chicago.

Weiland and his band are currently in the process of working on a new record and expect to book more shows beyond the newly announced dates.
