Scott Weiland is talking more about that bizarre performance of “Vasoline” he delivered at a Texas show last week. The singer and his Wildabout bandmate Nick Maybury gave a surprise interview to North Carolina radio station WXNR 99.5 The X backstage at Carolina Rebellion this past weekend.

Weiland once again blamed the showing on his ear monitors not working and said that his performance was not caused by drug use. In the interview above, which itself is a bit bizarre, he says, “We had one bad show, there were no ears, no ear monitors and it was quite a bummer because I couldn’t hear myself at all but all [the other] shows have been amazing.”

When asked what the most difficult thing has been to deal with while on the road, his only response was, “Dealing with a--hole media.” Later in the interview he elaborated, “Unfortunately, that’s the way it is with…, you know, the media these days. They like to talk stuff without really knowing what’s going on. You know, I’ve been off drugs for 13 years and to hear people make references to that is very disheartening.”

Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts are currently touring behind their latest album Blaster, which came out on March 31. The guys have a few more festivals lined up for this month. They play Rock on the Range on May 16 and BottleRock Music Festival on May 30.
