We're now less than a month away from the release of Seether's Poison the Parish and it's truly shaping up to be a heavy effort. This notion is furthered on the new song "Nothing Left," which premiered at Billboard.

There's a sense of immediacy to the song, which finds the full band jumping in from the first note, digging straight into the verse. A seasick rhythm builds the tension as Shaun Morgan's nervous vocal delivery is downright brooding. All the tension is relieved with an eruptive chorus that kicks with a crashing riff following a slight pause, complete with a high shriek ripped from Morgan's throat.

Speaking about the direction of the new record, the singer stated, "That’s because a lot of the time, we were dealing with the record company that wanted the band to… sound slightly more radio-friendly, in terms of possibly pushing us toward an alternative direction."

Going on to mention Seether used to be in the alternative category, Morgan said "that's no longer the case." Citing today's music like Imagine Dragons and Lorde places a lower emphasis on guitars and how the label and producers were pushing the band in that same direction, the frontman quipped, "They had a plan that we just weren’t privy to."

In support of Poison the Parish (out May 12), Seether will embark on a massive headlining tour which kicks off on April 19, stretching through Aug. 20 with a couple of weeks off in between the runs. For a list of all stops, head to our 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
