Sepultura, ‘Arise’ – Banned Music Videos

Sepultura, 'Arise'

In yet another case of controversy through religious imagery, Brazilian thrash legends Sepultura were given the ban by MTV after releasing their video for ‘Arise.’

The title track from their fourth studio album, ‘Arise’ is a thrash masterpiece, but the apocalyptic imagery of a crucified Christ-like figure in the desert was too edgy for MTV back in 1991.

While it may not have been cool for MTV to ban all these videos, we’d still trade ‘Teen Mom’ and ‘Jersey Shore’ for the MTV we knew 20 years ago!
