Shinedown fans are ready for a new album and the band is ready to give them what they want. Their new disc is expected in early 2012.

In a press release issued in the summer, Shinedown frontman Brent Smith stated, “To say we are emotionally charged to start recording the new album would be a huge understatement. Everyone hold on tight, this is going to be intense!”

Shinedown spent the last three years on the road, in support of their last disc, ‘The Sound of Madness,’ which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band is set to collaborate with producer Rob Cavallo once again for the upcoming record.

Cavallo offered his own thoughts on the upcoming album, saying, “I knew that they would deliver, but they’ve even surpassed my high expectations with the songs they’ve brought to the table this time around. I can’t wait to get started.”

In an interview with Gibson.com earlier this year, Shinedown lead guitarist Zach Myers explained, “We aren’t a band that goes into the studio and makes a record in six weeks.” He continued, “The Sound of Madness’ took 24 months to write. Brent has this weird thing when we’re writing, we go into the studio, and there are no clocks around; there are no calendars on the wall. He doesn’t like to have a time limit on being creative.”
