It was a big week for hard rock and metal, with new albums from Skillet, August Burns Red, Amon AmarthAttila and Queensryche landing in the Top 25 of the Billboard 200 album chart.

Skillet's new album 'Rise' had the best showing of the new rock entries at No. 4. They also topped the iTunes Rock Album chart. The band will be part of the Carnival of Madness Tour with Shinedown, Papa RoachIn This Moment and We as Human that kicks off Aug. 13.

August Burns Red also made the Top 10 with their latest effort 'Rescue & Restore,' which debuted at No. 9. It's the highest chart position of their career, and the first time they've been in the Top 10. ABR are on the road all summer as part of Warped Tour.

Meanwhile, Swedish melodic death metallers Amon Amarth enter the Billboard tally at No. 19 with their latest effort, 'Deceiver of the Gods.' You can catch Amon Amarth all summer on the Mayhem Festival tour. See pics of the kickoff show here.

Party metallers Attila are also on the Warped Tour, and like August Burns Red, had their highest chart debut ever this week. 'About That Life' is at No. 22 on the Billboard 200, and was Top 5 on both the Rock and Hard Rock charts.

With all the turmoil and drama surrounding the two versions of Queensryche, a lot of people were wondering how the Todd La Torre fronted version of the band would do with their new self-titled album. 'Queensryche' did well, with a chart position of No. 23.

“We can’t thank the fans enough for their support in helping us get to this point," says Queensryche guitarist Michael Wilton. "It is because of you that we have had this incredible debut and we are overwhelmed with the response the album has received. Todd, Parker, Scott, Eddie and I are grateful for everyone who has stood by us over the past year.”
