Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo revealed two pieces of important information about his main band while promoting his Philm side project. In a recent interview, the skinsman confirmed that Slayer are wrapping up a two-song EP due later this year. He revealed that vocalist/bassist Tom Araya is laying down his vocal tracks alongside guitarist Kerry King. He also shared that Slayer will never stray from the left-hand metal path, either.

While chatting with Greek outlet Rock Overdose, Lombardo said, "Kerry and Tom are recording it right now; they are doing the vocals." So it's one step closer to completion and in fan's hands.

The question about whether or not Slayer would continue to make a glorious, thrash racket, even though they have been doing so for three decades, arose, with the interviewer asking if they would stray from their patented formula to make a non-thrash album. Lombardo quickly shot that idea to hell, saying, "No, never! Slayer would never release an album on a different style."

Anything else would be blasphemous.

Catch Slayer thrashing their way through the summer as part of the 2012 lineup of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. Here's to hoping the EP lands in time for Mayhem.
