It’s a massive year for thrash legends Slayer as they are gearing up to release their eleventh studio album Repentless on Sept. 11. They are also slated to headline this summer’s Mayhem Festival and Motorhead’s Motorboat.

Slayer kicked off their first of two nights at The Paramount in Long Island, N.Y., on Tuesday (June 16) with the notable “World Painted Blood” and went on to play “Postmortem” and “Hate Worldwide.”  Riff lords Kerry King and Gary Holt cranked out chords that echoed throughout the venue.

Frontman Tom Araya looked out to the crowd and smiled as crowd-surfers were unrelenting throughout the night, much like the thunderous drum patterns provided by Paul Bostaph.

Slayer fans went crazy to favorites “South of Heaven” and “Raining Blood” before meeting the “Angel of Death” at the end of the night.
