Recently, Rob Zombie spoke openly about the lack of "larger than life" rock stars in the current music climate, tracing it back to the grunge era when the idea of the magnetic rock star began to change. At the time he mentioned people like David Bowie, Prince and Lemmy being musicians that had a mystique and individuality about them and we're typically not like anyone that most people knew or had seen. When later pressed if there were any acts that fit that mold in the time since the grunge era, he singled out Slipknot as an act that delivered something fresh and different.

When Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez recently met up with Slipknot's Corey Taylor at Live Nation's National Concert Day, she mentioned Zombie's comments and got his reaction. "That's crazy," stated a surprised Taylor, who was humbled by the accolade. "I appreciate Rob saying that and I'll keep waving it as long as I can, but somebody's got to take it and keep running. My knees can't take it anymore," joked Taylor later in the chat. "I'm just telling you right now, I am broken in a lot of different ways. I mean I can still [dances around], but my knees, not so much."

But on a more serious note, Taylor opened up about the genre and who will be the next "rock stars." "It's kind of a weird time for rock right now anyway, because we kind of ebb and flow every 15 years and right now we're kind of on the uprise again, kind of coming back," stated Taylor. "It'll be interesting to see who takes the flag and starts waving it and which big personalities start coming out. It's gonna be great and we're going to have a whole other generation of huge rock bands to come along and fly the flag."
