Soundgarden fans were treated to a surprise today with the release of a brand new song 'Storm' that you can listen to in the player above. The trippy track was recorded in May with producer Jack Endino.

Endino has a long history with Soundgarden, having produced their debut EP 'Screaming Life' back in 1987. He has also worked with numerous other Seattle bands over the years including Nirvana and Mudhoney.

Over the weekend, Soundgarden performed for the first time at the annual Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, Calif., that raises money for Bridge School, which focuses on the education of children with severe speech and physical impairments.

Pearl Jam were also on the bill, making it the perfect occasion for Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell to join them for the Temple of the Dog song 'Hunger Strike.' The lineup for Temple of the Dog, who released their self-titled album in 1991, included Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready and drummer Matt Cameron.

The weekend show was Soundgarden's last scheduled gig of 2015. They'll travel to Australia and New Zealand for some shows in February and March of next year.
