Starset, ‘Telescope’ – Exclusive Song Premiere

Starset are ramping up to the July 8 release of their new ‘Transmissions’ album and they’re ready to share a new song in advance of the street date. Already burning up the chart with the single ‘My Demons,’ the group is exclusively premiering their new song ‘Telescope’ right here at Loudwire (listen above).

The track starts off with a rather haunting opening before the instruments kick in with a dark mid-tempo pacing. Frontman Dustin Bates sets the tone with his moody vocals that at points drop down to a whisper before the track builds back up to a rocking finale.

As for the lyrical content, the lines about the stars aligning are no coincidence as Bates holds a scientific background. The PhD candidate from Ohio University has done research for the U.S. Air Force and taught at the International Space University. Bates formed the group in 2013 after being contacted by the Starset Society, hoping to spread its message. At its core, the message is a warning involving a scientific discovery that is currently being controlled and manipulated by an elite few.

Bates tells Loudwire, “‘Telescope’ explores the solitude associated with love lost, and the will — see also: obsession — to regain it, no matter the distance that separates, whether spatial or emotional.” To get more of the story, be sure to pick up Starset’s ‘Transmissions’ album (due July 8). The disc is currently available for pre-order at iTunes, with three of the songs, including ‘Telescope,’ available for download now.

Starset are currently wrapping up a U.S. tour. See their remaining datesĀ here.
