With System of a Down still on a break, bassist Shavo Odadjian is finding other projects to occupy his time. One of those pursuits is acting, and he's just landed a role in the upcoming film, '37: A Final Promise.'

The film stars Randall Batinkoff as a rock star planning to atone for a crime he committed as a child by killing himself on his 37th birthday. But with weeks to go before the fateful day, he meets a young woman (Scottie Thompson), who makes him reconsider his longtime vow.

Odadjian appears in the film in a small role as a pot-smoking preacher / rock star. This isn't Odadjian's first film gig, as he previously appeared in the Ben Stiller comedy 'Zoolander.' He's also served as a video director over the years, helming System of a Down's clips for 'Aerials' and 'Toxicity.'

A still from the movie featuring the bassist was recently posted on Shavo's Facebook page:

'37: A Final Promise' is expected to premiere in August, beginning with screenings in Los Angeles the week of Aug. 8 and in New York the week of Aug. 15. The film also stars Scott Wolf, Tricia Helfer and Bruce Davison among others. For more on the movie and to watch the trailer for the film, click here.
