You can never truly understand a band until you've seen them live. A metal show is an event when bands can turn it up to 11, grace you with their presence and thrive off the energy of the crowd while exposing you to the most raw example of why they've dedicated their existence to music. Now multiply that by 10 and you've stumbled upon the live experience known as GWAR.
Outer Space's favorite metal band GWAR have just announced an insane tour with fellow thrashers Municipal Waste and Californian monsters Ghoul. The tour will be the second leg of the 'Return of the World Maggot Tour.' It was the first leg of the trek that witnessed the tragic passing of GWAR guitarist Cory "Flattus Maximus" Smoot.
Since the untimely death of GWAR lead guitarist Cory "Flattus Maximus" Smoot, an incredible outpouring of support and charity has come from both GWAR fans and the band themselves. Already having thrown one benefit concert for Smoot's wife and unborn child, the second Smoot Family Fund show will feature GWAR, Municipal Waste and others on March 15.

You wouldn't necessarily know it from listening to songs like 'The Insidious Soliloquy of Skulhed Face' or 'The Master Has a Butt,' but the members of GWAR are apparently huge film buffs. Well, okay, maybe that's a bit of a stretch -- but that didn't keep lead singer Oderus Urungus and rhythm guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death from reviewing Steven Spielberg's 'War Horse' recently.
