Mastodon's Troy Sanders on 'The Hunter'
Why do you need to tune into 'Last Call With Carson Daly' on Tuesday, Nov. 15? Because Mastodon will perform both 'Curl of the Burl' and 'Black Tongue' on the late night TV program. The show airs on NBC affiliates at 1:35 AM ET, so be a night owl on Tuesday night and watch it. You won't be disappointed, especially since it's a two-fer.
Mastodon recently kicked off a North American fall tour in support their epic new album, 'The Hunter,' and one song you can expect to hear on a nightly basis is 'Curl of the Burl,' the disc's current single. It's powerhouse rock number with a catchy chorus bound to get ingrained in your mind, but its enigmatic title does beg the question: what the hell is a burl -- and why would it curl?
The recent love affair between cartoons and metal has been a passionate one. The seemingly separate worlds most notably collided in 2006 in the animated series 'Metalocalypse,' which went on to become a worldwide phenomenon and a staple show for Cartoon Network. It seems like the metal gods are far from finished with the cartoon world, as Mastodon bassist-vocalist Troy Sanders recently revealed that the progressive metal band and 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' have decided to team up for what is sure to be a brutally funny collaboration.
It’s another solid week for new rock releases on the Billboard 200 albums chart. ‘Chickenfoot III’, the latest from super group Chickenfoot debuted at No. 9 selling 42,000 copies. Their previously released self-titled album in 2009 rocked the charts at No. 4 with 52,000 units sold so the ‘Foot has some catching up to do. But with the combined star force of Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith, this release has some staying power.
